On December 16, a reporter learned from the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce that by November this year, the province has established one national e-commerce demonstration base and five provincial-level demonstration bases. Over 40% of small and medium-sized enterprises in the province are now engaged in e-commerce activities. Additionally, the Henan Network Business Park has attracted more than 40 e-commerce companies, showcasing the growing momentum of digital commerce in the region.
Jiao Jinwei, director of the Provincial Department of Commerce, emphasized that the future direction of e-commerce development in Henan will focus on improving consumption, benefiting the people, increasing employment, and promoting social harmony. The strategy involves optimizing the circulation structure and reducing costs to enhance efficiency. By stimulating market vitality and upgrading application levels, the department aims to strengthen service supervision and promote the integration of the network economy with the real economy. This will help improve the supply of online consumer products and meet the evolving needs of consumers.
The meeting also outlined long-term goals for the province's e-commerce sector. By 2020, the platform system—including e-commerce platforms, backbone platforms, and sub-platforms—will be basically completed. Online retail sales are expected to account for over 15% of total social consumer goods retail sales. Moreover, approximately 85% of e-commerce companies will be involved in both domestic and international trade, reflecting the growing scale and sophistication of the industry.
In addition, the Provincial Department of Commerce recently recognized 20 enterprises as provincial-level e-commerce demonstration companies, highlighting their contributions to the development of digital commerce in Henan. These efforts reflect the province's commitment to fostering a vibrant and sustainable e-commerce ecosystem.
