In the small Himalayan town of Nainita, where heavy snowfall often leads to power outages and difficulties in cooking, a Year 12 student named Rajesh Adhikari came up with an innovative solution.
The shoes use a unique mechanism: when the foot lifts off the ground, a built-in spring releases and spins a small generator, producing electricity that can be used to charge a mobile phone. Unlike many other charging shoes that rely on pressure-sensitive technology, these are designed to work efficiently in snowy conditions, making them more practical for areas like Nainita.
Additionally, the shoes can power a lamp during power cuts, providing essential lighting when it's needed most. Rajesh is currently working on improving his invention and hopes to introduce wireless charging capabilities in the future. This would eliminate the need for wires, making the device even more convenient and user-friendly.
