The research team led by Yao Bin from the Sinochem New Network News Research Institute of the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences has made significant breakthroughs after nearly a decade of dedicated study. Recently, they successfully developed a novel feed enzyme preparation that targets non-starch polysaccharides. This innovation is expected to bring substantial social and environmental benefits by opening up new feed resources, improving the efficiency of existing feed utilization, and reducing pollution in the feed industry.
Starting from the fundamental molecular biology of enzymes, the researchers tackled key challenges in high-efficiency enzyme production, application performance, and the development of various non-starch polysaccharide hydrolase gene resources, such as xylanase. They achieved a remarkable 25 to 81 times increase in low-cost production compared to the initial research stage, far surpassing the levels reported in previous literature. This advancement not only overcomes the long-standing bottleneck in intellectual property and production costs but also paves the way for sustainable development in the industry.
The project has secured 18 invention patents and established five enterprise standards. Since 2007, Yao Bin's team has successfully transferred the technology to more than 10 enzyme production companies across China. This collaboration has significantly enhanced product innovation and strengthened the competitive edge of these enterprises, marking a major step forward in the domestic feed enzyme industry.
