The research team led by Yao Bin from the Sinochem New Network News Research Institute of the China Academy of Agricultural Sciences has made significant breakthroughs after nearly a decade of dedicated efforts. Recently, they successfully developed a new feed non-starch polysaccharide enzyme preparation. This innovative product is expected to bring substantial social and environmental benefits by opening up new feed resources, improving the efficiency of existing feed utilization, and reducing pollution in the feed industry.
Starting from fundamental molecular biology research on enzymes, the team addressed key challenges in high-efficiency enzyme production, application performance, and the large-scale production of various non-starch polysaccharide hydrolase genes, such as xylanase. They achieved low-cost production of these enzymes, with yields 25 to 81 times higher than initial research levels—far surpassing previously reported results. This advancement effectively overcame critical bottlenecks in intellectual property and production costs, significantly boosting the industry's development potential.
The project has secured 18 invention patents and established five enterprise standards. Since 2007, Yao Bin’s team has successfully transferred the technology to more than 10 enzyme production companies across China. This has not only driven innovation in products but also greatly enhanced the competitiveness of these enterprises, marking a major step forward in the domestic feed industry.
Through continuous innovation and practical application, this research highlights the importance of scientific breakthroughs in addressing real-world challenges, while also demonstrating the power of collaboration between academia and industry. The success of this project sets a strong example for future developments in sustainable feed technologies.
