People who value cleanliness take the time to clean every corner of their home, including hard-to-reach areas like the bathroom, the bathtub, and even the floor. They pay special attention to spots that most people often overlook, such as the showerhead.
**Many people neglect cleaning their showers.**
According to a recent study by American scientists, showers can become breeding grounds for germs due to their damp environment. If not cleaned regularly, harmful bacteria and fungi may mix with the water and cause skin irritation or even infections, especially for those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include dry, itchy skin, persistent coughing, and general discomfort.
A reporter surveyed over 20 randomly selected citizens, and 18 admitted they rarely check if their shower is clean. Two said they occasionally clean it using a brush when they notice it's not flowing smoothly. “I haven’t cleaned my shower in years,†said Ms. Li. She mentioned that although her shower has been in use for a long time, there are no blockages, and she hasn’t experienced any skin issues from fungi.
“I only clean it when I feel the flow is blocked,†said Ms. Wang. “If I knew that a dirty shower could cause skin problems, I would clean it more often.â€

Dr. Yan Kuanhou, a dermatologist at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, explained that showers tend to accumulate fungi, especially in hot and humid conditions. For people with weak immunity, this can lead to fungal infections. Even for healthy individuals, those prone to allergies might experience symptoms like asthma attacks from inhaling mold spores.
“Although it might not seem urgent, it’s better to clean it before using it again after a long period of inactivity,†Dr. Yan advised.
To prevent fungus growth, some people use citric acid for descaling. Ms. Liu finds it very effective and uses it regularly at home. Ms. Luo prefers a copper showerhead over models with rubber parts because she believes rubber tends to clog easily.
Ms. Kwan takes a different approach: “If something has been used for too long, it’s safer to replace it with a new one.â€
Dr. Zhang from a hospital in Xi’an also suggested running hot water through the shower for a few minutes before use to help kill germs. When bathing, avoid letting water get into your eyes or mouth.
To clean your shower, you can soak the head in a mixture of white vinegar and water (in a 1:9 ratio) for an hour. You can also use bleach or disinfectant solutions. It’s best to do this every six months. If your shower is old and worn out, consider replacing it with a new one for better hygiene.
Diesel Engine

Therefore, after the diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder, it mixes with the air in a very short time and immediately ignites and burns on its own. The air pressure in the cylinder rises sharply to 6-9MPa, and the temperature also rises to 2000-2500K. Driven by high-pressure gas, the piston moves downward and drives the crankshaft to rotate to do work, and the exhaust gas is also discharged into the atmosphere through the exhaust pipe.
