Front and Rear Bearing Protection

Source: Bearing Network | Date: August 12, 2013

When it comes to maintaining the performance of your vehicle's front and rear bearings, regular protection is essential. This guide will walk you through a detailed process to ensure your bearings remain in optimal condition. Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or a professional mechanic, following these steps can help extend the life of your bearings and improve overall vehicle safety.

Materials Needed:

  • Lithium-based grease or molybdenum disulfide grease
  • Lamp oil or diesel (500 ml)
  • Waste cloth or old clothes
  • Washbasin
  • Parts storage box
  • Repair tools
  • Marker pen

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Choose a windless day for the job and park the vehicle on a flat surface. Engage the hand brake and open the parking brake to prevent any movement.
  2. Loosen the front and rear wheel bolts in a diagonal order on both sides.
  3. Use a jack to lift one side of the wheel and secure it with an iron triangle bracket or wooden block. Repeat for the other side.
  4. Remove the loosened bolts from the parts storage box and set them aside.
  5. Take off the front or rear wheel carefully.
  6. Remove the brake pads and mark the left and right sides with a marker for proper reinstallation.
  7. Take off the bearing cover and remove the hub fixing bolts and pins.
  8. Loosen and remove the bolts from the bearing assembly.
  9. Inspect the bearing as shown in the diagram. If it is severely worn, replace it immediately.
  10. If the bearing is still in good condition, clean it using fire oil or diesel to remove dirt and debris.
  11. Apply grease evenly to the bearing surfaces before reinstalling them.
  12. Tighten the hub bolts and place the assembly back into position.
  13. Rotate the bearing to check if it moves freely or feels tight. Adjust as necessary until it is properly secured.
  14. Reinstall the hub bolts and secure the pins. Replace the bearing cover.
  15. Clean the brake disc thoroughly with a clean cloth, removing any oil or residue.
  16. Inspect the brake disc for damage. If damaged, repair or replace it promptly.
  17. Reinstall the front wheel and tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern.
  18. Repeat the same process for the other side of the vehicle.
  19. Lower the vehicle using the jack, remove the support blocks, and let the wheels touch the ground.
  20. Tighten all tire bolts in a diagonal pattern using a wrench, ensuring a torque of at least 40 kg.

This task typically takes about 2-3 hours for a single person to complete. Regular maintenance like this not only improves the performance of your vehicle but also enhances safety and reduces the risk of unexpected failures.

SKF bearings are known for their high precision and performance. These bearings are designed for various applications and are often used in industrial and automotive systems. The oil mist system plays a crucial role in maintaining the bearing’s operation and monitoring the residual magnetic force of rolling bearings. Proper maintenance ensures that bearings function efficiently over time.

Floor Drain

A floor drain is a plumbing fixture that is installed in the floor of a structure, mainly designed to remove any standing water near it. They are usually round, but can also be square or rectangular. They usually range from 2 to 12 inches (5.1 to 30.5 cm); most are 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter. They have gratings that are made of metal or plastic. The floor around the drain is also sloped to allow the water to flow to the drain. Many residential basements have one or more floor drains, usually near a water heater or washer/dryer. Floor drains can also be found in commercial basements, restrooms, kitchens, refrigerator areas, locker/shower rooms, laundry facilities, and near swimming pools, among other places.
