The area directly exposed to flame may turn slightly yellow, but there is no significant damage or melting. In contrast, when a flame comes into contact with polystyrene board, it begins to melt almost immediately. A 2 cm thick board can quickly develop a hole, allowing open flames and dark smoke to escape. It also emits a strong, unpleasant burning smell. While polystyrene board is cheaper and offers good insulation, its flammability makes it less safe compared to thermal insulation cotton. For home applications, especially where safety is a priority, thermal insulation cotton is the better option due to its combined benefits of insulation, soundproofing, and fire resistance.
