Newly-recognized research on carbon-free refractory products

In recent years, Luo Nai Group has conducted applied research on the use of spinel in ironmaking, skateboarding, nozzles, and ladles, leveraging the scientific expertise of Beijing University of Science and Technology and Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. Through process optimization and the development of unique technological solutions, the company has achieved international standards in both production equipment and product quality. This has enabled rapid conversion of research outcomes into marketable products. Recently, over 20 experts from the Henan Provincial Planning and Economy Committee, Beijing University of Science and Technology, the Henan Provincial Metallurgy Department, and the Luoyang Refractories Research Institute gathered to review the integration of spinel technology. At the meeting, refractory material specialists highlighted that spinel-bonded refractories are an ideal choice for ultra-low carbon steel and calcium-treated steel casting. The successful development of these materials marks a significant step forward in China's steel industry, supporting the production of clean steel and alloy steel. It also paves the way for the transformation of China’s refractories sector, helping the country move from being a major steel producer to a strong steel power. Luo Nai Group’s high-strength duplex stainless steel storage tank belt (NK-41MF) is a martensitic-ferritic duplex stainless steel used as automotive filler sheet material, currently in mass production. It is widely used in loom parts and connectors, with an annual output of 4 million tons. The NK-42MF is a ferritic-martensitic duplex stainless steel strip designed for higher strength applications. Its main composition includes Cr: 13.00%–14.00%, Ni: 2.0%, and C: 0.09%. The NK-41MF undergoes quenching and tempering (Q&T), achieving a hardness of HV300. The NK-42MF is processed through cold rolling and heat treatment (R&T), reaching a hardness of HV400. Further tempering allows it to achieve a hardness of up to HV520. While 420J2 stainless steel exceeds HV500 and shows good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, it is typically thin and limited by quality issues. In contrast, the NK-42MF is extremely thin, at 50 microns, with a width of up to 600mm, and offers excellent formability similar to SUS301. This makes it a highly versatile and practical solution for various industrial applications.
