The monitoring pole serves as a vertical support structure for outdoor surveillance cameras. Typically, road monitoring installations use poles with a height of 6 meters and a crossarm of 1 meter. The embedded foundation is made of C25 concrete, meeting national reinforcement standards and wind resistance requirements. The cement used is No. 425 ordinary Portland cement, and the concrete mix ratio and minimum cement content must comply with GBJ204-83 regulations.
The monitoring pole must be properly grounded to ensure safety. It is recommended to connect a grounding wire underground, avoiding direct contact with the conductive rod if possible. The grounding resistance should be less than 4 ohms.
The anchor bolts located above the flange plate should be well protected to prevent thread damage. When installing the pole, it should be placed according to the embedded part installation diagram. The boom arm extension must be perpendicular to the traffic lane (or as specified by the engineer), with the anchor bolt acting as the primary reinforcement.
The base of the monitoring pole must have a level deviation of less than 5mm per meter to ensure the embedded part is as level as possible. The flange of the embedded part should be 20–30 mm below the surrounding ground level, followed by a layer of C25 fine aggregate concrete to prevent water accumulation.
If the length of the monitoring pole exceeds 50 meters, a manhole must be installed beside the pole, near the control box, at cable bends, or when the cable conduit exceeds 50 meters in length, or when the conduits at both ends are not aligned vertically by more than 100 mm. The manhole dimensions should be 500 mm (length) × 500 mm (width) × 600 mm (depth). Gravel should be used for drainage, and the walls of the manhole must be cleaned with cement mortar.
The control box is provided by the equipment manufacturer based on the required capacity. The pole shell is constructed from high-quality cold-rolled steel with a thickness of at least 1.2 mm. It is coated with an outdoor-grade powder coating to provide waterproofing, anti-theft protection, and effective heat dissipation.
Surface defects such as cracks, delamination, heavy skin, and slag inclusions in the structural steel poles must not compromise the material or mechanical properties. The depth of pits or scratches should not exceed half of the steel thickness tolerance or 0.5 mm, whichever is smaller.
