Industrial laminates are typically constructed from layers of fibrous reinforcement that are bonded together with high-quality thermosetting resins. These laminates come in various grades and can be utilized across a broad spectrum of applications, including:
- Electrical transformers
- Gears
- Bearings
- Jigs
- Fixtures
- Thermal breaks
At Ai, we provide industrial laminates in multiple grades and sheet forms, all custom-cut to meet your specific requirements. Orders placed online before 1:30 PM qualify for next-day delivery! Among the laminates we offer at Ai are:
EPOXY 4WEP
SRBF F1
SRBF F2
SRBP P1
SRBP P3
Key Characteristics
- Operating temperature ranges from 0°C up to +250°C.
- Rigid with high strength and low weight.
- Excellent electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties.
- Non-corrosive.
- Higher thermal expansion.
- Resistant to weather conditions.
- Strong resistance to chemicals, oils, solvents, and hydrocarbons.
- Sensitive to concentrated acids and alkalis.
Epoxy 4WEP
Epoxy resin bonded glass fabric offers high mechanical strength and low moisture absorption. It combines great electrical properties and performs well in both dry and humid environments. At Ai Plastics, Epoxy 4W/EP is UL94 VO approved and fire-rated.
Applications
- Insulation in large turbine generators.
- Components for cryogenic superconducting magnets.
- Bolt insulation in structures.
- Jigs for electro-chemical machining.
- Structural insulation for high-performance electronic equipment.
- Wearing and bearing applications.
At Ai, we now offer epoxy in the form of rods and sheets. Check out our range of products.
Paxolin / Paper
Paper-based laminates, also known as SRBP or synthetic resin-bonded papers, consist of stacked layers of paper saturated with specially formulated synthetic resins. This material is easy to machine, featuring mechanical and electrical properties with excellent impact strength, making it suitable for various engineering components.
SRBP P1 serves as a good, economical, low-voltage insulation material, ideal when electrical requirements are moderate. It can be supplied in either brown or black.
On the other hand, P3 (also known as kite) exhibits excellent electrical insulation properties and can be used where high voltages are generated.
Overall Applications
- Spacers
- Base plates
- Side plates
- Simple jigs and fixtures

Fabric-based laminates
Fabric-based laminates, also referred to as SRBF or synthetic resin-bonded fabric, are renowned for their high strength, high-temperature tolerance, and excellent electrical insulation. They are manufactured using high-pressure laminating processes with synthetic phenolic resins to create a rigid and wear-resistant product.
Characteristics
- High strength-to-weight ratio and performance.
- Choice of color and surface finishes.
- Outstanding dielectric strength.
- Low thermal conductivity and microwave transparency.
- Resistance to corrosion effects and water.
- Lower tooling and set-up costs.
- Reduced production costs compared to metal fabrication.
- Operating temperature ranges up to 120 degrees Celsius.
SRBF F1
F1, a phenolic cotton laminate, is a fine weave and displays exceptional mechanical and chemical properties. The material is machined accurately to precise tolerance levels.
It is known for its excellent wear resistance, low water absorption, and good dimensional stability, making it suitable for a variety of components, especially those requiring intricate features with a fine machined finish. It has better electrical strength than F2 grade.
Applications
- Fine-toothed gears.
- Seal retaining rings.
- Geneva wheels.
- Actuating arms.
- Insulating sleeves.
- Bushes and insulation for low and medium voltages.
