The Fifth China-EU Energy Dialogue Held in Belgium

The fifth China-EU energy dialogue was held in Brussels, Belgium on the 8th. China and the EU are both important players in the world's energy consumption market. Liu Tie-nan pointed out that energy cooperation has become one of the most active and potential areas of cooperation between China and the EU, and has achieved gratifying results. In order to implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of China and the EU, the China-EU energy dialogue has been successfully held for four times. China and France have conducted a number of pragmatic cooperation in nuclear power, in photovoltaic power generation in Germany, in wind power in Denmark, and in oil exploration and development in the United Kingdom. A group of world-renowned transnational energy companies in Europe, such as Siemens, Vestas, Areva, ABB, etc., have developed into China, and China has become one of their most important markets. China-EU energy cooperation has brought about tangible benefits to both parties, created a large number of employment opportunities, shared markets and technologies, and promoted economic growth and common development.

Liu Tienan stressed that the potential for cooperation between China and the EU in the energy field is huge and the prospects are broad. We are willing to further deepen cooperation in energy pragmatism with EU countries, expand areas of cooperation, raise the level of cooperation, and achieve more fruitful results.

(1) Focus on future cooperation by improving the energy conversion efficiency, the development and utilization of clean energy, and the regulatory system and management of energy. In areas of common interest such as renewable energy (wind and solar energy), nuclear safety, energy efficiency, grid standards, clean coal, etc., strengthen information sharing and experience exchanges on government regulatory policies and latest developments, and cooperate in the field of technical standards. Sino-European enterprises have established pragmatic cooperation to create conditions.

(2) Strengthen exchanges and cooperation in nuclear power safety technology, stressing that the international community should take a responsible attitude to ensure the absolute safety of its own nuclear facilities and at the same time strengthen the full implementation of international safety standards.

(III) To jointly strengthen the management and guidance of the China-Europe Clean Energy Center and promote its positive progress in clean energy and technology. The China-Europe Clean Energy Center will actively promote joint R&D in the field of clean energy and encourage private partners from both sides to participate.

(D) In ​​order to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of China and the EU, the China National Energy Administration and the European Commission will jointly host the China-EU High Level Energy Conference in Brussels in 2012. The meeting will promote the links between the two sides in the challenges of energy security, energy technology, energy and urbanization. , as well as in-depth exchange of energy development strategy and planning areas between China and Europe, to determine the direction and key areas for future pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.

During the dialogue, Liu Tienan also met respectively with Minister of Construction and Energy of Denmark Ridggao and Deputy Minister of Economy of Poland Kaliszky and exchanged opinions on further strengthening bilateral energy cooperation.
