In 2016, China imported 25.7 million tons of primary-shaped plastics, down 1.5% year-on-year; the import value was 273.06 billion yuan, down 2.2% year-on-year. In December, the import volume was 2.64 million tons, an increase of 10.5% from the previous month; the import value was 29.3 billion yuan, an increase of 10.9% from the previous month.
In 2016, China imported 5.81 million tons of natural and synthetic rubber (including latex), a year-on-year increase of 23.1%; the import value was 57.66 billion yuan, an increase of 18.8%. In December, the import volume was 730,000 tons, an increase of 30.4% from the previous month; the import value was 8.63 billion yuan, an increase of 45.8% from the previous month.
China's export pressure is expected to ease in the first quarter of this year
In December 2016, the China Foreign Trade Export Pilot Index continued to rise. In the fourth quarter of 2016, China's foreign trade export leading index rebounded for three consecutive months, up to 37.4 in December, rebounding to 0.5, indicating that China's export pressure is expected to ease in the first quarter of 2017.
