Mercedes-Benz Super Running SLC will adopt aluminum structure

The release of the concept car of the super sports car has given us a preliminary understanding of the style of the models to be produced, and the models produced will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008. This supercar is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine, and the street version will also carry the Mercedes-AMG logo, but it is produced by HWA. The limited sales of the Mercedes SLR McLaren supercar is very disappointing. Last year, Mercedes sold only 141 SLR McLaren supercars worth US$455,000 in the United States. Therefore, Mercedes-Benz wants to seek another partner for its next-generation supercar production. The next-generation name of the supercar is said to be the SLC, which will be available in 2012 and will use an all-aluminum body structure to reduce body weight. The structure of the entire body is similar to Jaguar's XJ or Audi's A8 saloon. Using light metal to reduce weight on this basis can naturally optimize the driving feel, performance and fuel consumption. According to news from the internationally renowned auto media AutoWeek, the new sports car rumor will use the name SLC, which will appear in 2010, the second year after the new SL appears. Both vehicles will use front-engine rear-wheel drive settings, and most of the body components are shared, including drive trains, suspensions, and electronic systems. Due to the aluminum construction, the new SL should be 10 to 15 percentage points lighter than the current version and weigh between 3,860 lbs and 4,500 lbs, depending on the version model and the components selected. SLC production will not be very high, between 3,000 and 4,000 units, and will be produced at HWA's new plant in Germany. The final shape of the car is still being discussed, but it should be possible to imitate the 300SLR of the 1950s, or even more modern, similar to the SLR. At the same time, there is news that McLaren is also starting to build his new car in the UK, development code P11. The new McLaren should be available in 2010.
