Painted cabinets are known for their luxurious, satin-like finish and elegant, noble texture. They offer excellent water resistance and anti-staining properties, which have made them a popular choice among high-end consumers. However, despite their attractive appearance, the actual quality of these cabinets can vary greatly.
For instance, a small scratch from a kitchen knife might leave only a faint mark on one cabinet, while another might show visible damage or even lose large chunks of paint. What causes such differences? The answer lies in the baking varnishing process used during production. There are typically three different levels of this process, and each significantly impacts the final quality of the painted cabinets.
First, there's the small workshop production method. These cabinets are often made with basic equipment and lack professional spray booths and drying rooms. The environment inside the spray booth isn't up to industry standards, and after painting, they're usually air-dried. This leads to issues like dust, dirt spots, and uneven paint thickness. Once damaged, these cabinets are hard to repair due to the poor quality of the paint layer.
Next is semi-mechanical production, which is the most common method found in today’s market. While the cabinets look good, they are produced in a dust-free paint room. However, since the painting is still done by hand, it's difficult to avoid contamination from dust or human error. Additionally, the paint room itself may not be fully controlled, and the repeated painting process means that the quality of each coat depends on the worker's condition at the time.
The third and most advanced method is fully automatic production. Some top-tier cabinet brands use cutting-edge Italian automated painting lines. These systems include fully automatic color matching and a completely automated production process. Using the "3 undercoats and 2 topcoats" technique, the resulting painted panels are not only vibrant and smooth but also highly moisture-resistant. As long as there's no physical damage, the piano-like finish can remain new for many years.
