China's first self-developed combustible ice fidelity sampler came out

China's first self-developed combustible ice fidelity sampler was launched in Guangzhou recently. The sea performance test in the northern part of the South China Sea shows that the main performance indicators of the equipment have reached the international leading level.




Combustible ice is a common name for natural gas hydrates. It is a new clean resource discovered in the ocean and tundra in the past 20 years. It can be used as a substitute for traditional petrochemical raw materials such as petroleum and carbon. It is estimated that the world's combustible ice contains the total amount of organic carbon equivalent to twice the world's known coal, oil and natural gas.




According to reports, the sampling of the submarine surface in the presence of combustible ice is a difficult problem in the investigation and evaluation of flammable ice resources in the sea. Since the in-situ pressure and temperature of the deposit cannot be maintained, when the deep sea surface sediment is sampled by a conventional sampler, the combustible ice in the sample is volatilized due to changes in temperature, pressure, light, and the like, and cannot be obtained. To this end, as the flaming ice detection technology of the National 863 Program, this is an important research content.




It is reported that China's first set of deep-water shallow-hole combustible ice fidelity sampler was supervised by the Guangzhou Marine Geological Survey Bureau of the Ministry of Land and Resources, and designed and developed by the Marine Technology and Engineering Center of Zhejiang University and the State Key Laboratory of Fluid Power Transmission. The sampler draws on the gravity piston sampler structure, can be directly inserted into the seabed to collect samples, and the sample is insulated and pressure-maintained. The sampler weighs 1.3 tons and has a total length of only 11.2 meters. The sampling depth can reach 10 meters. The sampling depth is 2-5 times of the existing deep sea sediment fidelity sampler at home and abroad. The maximum working water depth can reach 3000 meters. The main performance indicators are up to International leading level.




In May of this year, the equipment was equipped with the China Ocean No. 4 scientific research ship for the second sea trial in the northern part of the South China Sea. The fidelity collected 9.15 meters of deep sea sediment samples at a depth of 1940 meters. After the sampler returned to the deck, After on-site and multiple pressure-holding tests, all technical indicators have met the design requirements. The gas in the sampler was initially tested and analyzed by gas chromatograph, and its main component was methane.
