Development and Reform Commission: Natural Gas Consumption in the First 11 Months Increased 20 Year-on-Year

The National Development and Reform Commission announced on December 21 the production and sales of natural gas in November. The National Development and Reform Commission said that since November, with the gradual decline in temperature, natural gas demand has increased rapidly, production and imports have increased substantially, and supply and demand have generally remained stable.

Data show that from January to November, cumulative production of natural gas was 86.2 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%. Among them, November production was 8.5 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 9.1%; from January to November, apparent consumption was 99.6 billion cubic meters, an increase of 20.7% year-on-year. Among them, the apparent consumption in November was 10.2 billion cubic meters, an increase of 1.2 billion cubic meters compared with October. Due to the rapid growth of heating gas, Beijing's gas consumption in November reached 770 million square meters, a three-fold increase from the previous month; imported natural gas from January to November was approximately 15.3 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times. Among them, imports of 1.9 billion cubic meters in November, an increase of 1.5 times, an increase of 270 million cubic meters.
