The medium and late ripe varieties of sweet potato skin are thin and not resistant to frost, and should be harvested before frost.
The sweet potato in the Jianghuai River Basin generally does not leave seed. If you need to keep the seed, you should choose a good mother plant with strong growth, fine vines and few side vines. Each plant has 2 to 3 inflorescences, and 4 to 5 pods per inflorescence. The main vine and the side vine tip are all removed, so that the nutrients are concentrated for seed growth. Mature seed pods should be turned from green to yellow, seeds become hard, and when the pods are shaken, they are harvested together with the fruit stalk.
